We
celebrated as one of the students in our citizenship preparation program went
through the naturalization process and became a United States
citizen. We would like to thank the VFW
Fleur-de-lis Post 7609 of Seven Hills for its participation in
the ceremony. To learn more about our citizenship program visit our
citizenship page.

The
students and staff of the Parma ABLE Program celebrated the holiday season with
a friendly gathering that included ethnic foods, music of the season, a book
sale and a chance to take home a gift to remember the event.

Pictured
below are members of the Parma ABLE ESOL Program working on fleece blankets that
will be distributed to deserving families from our area. This is the
second year for this project initiated by Kelly , a teacher in the
program. You will also see the start of our canned goods collection which
will be distributed to families during the holiday season.

ESOL
and GED classes have the opportunity to use the computer lab at Valley Forge
High School during their evening classes. The lab offers them the
opportunity to explore websites specifically designed to assist the ESOL and GED
students. Pictured below is Sandra helping her students with an
interactive exercise found on the internet. A list of websites used in our
program can be accessed by clicking on the appropriate program name.
Classes
can also use the facilities of the Language Listening Lab to help them with
their listening and speaking skills. Pictured below is a class using the
Listening Lab area.

Our staff is experienced and trained in the field of adult education. They
will provide you with an exciting, friendly, and rewarding experience. All
that they ask is that you come prepared to learn. Pictured below are
several of our classes. Please come join us.

Because
of the hard work and dedication of both our staff and students, the ABLE program
of the Parma City Schools was chosen as the Highest Rated
Exemplary Program in the state of Ohio for
2006 and 2007. The program has received recognition for its outstanding achievement
from State Representative Tim DeGeeter, Parma Mayor Dean DePiero, and Parma City
Schools Superintendent Dr. Sarah Zatik.
Pictured
below is Dr. Zatik (on the right) congratulating Susan Sheehan, the program coordinator, for
this accomplishment. Also pictured is a portion of our staff that was
acknowledged by The Parma Schools Board of Education for their effort in
attaining this goal.
